Message from the President
Dear Members and Fellow Supply Chain Professionals,
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
For many of us, the past two years have been some of the most grueling and difficult of both our professional and personal lives. Never in our lives has there been such uncertainty of both worldwide health and worldwide supply chains. Simultaneously, this combination has stretched each of us and the world beyond what we could have imagined. Through the past two years, Supply Chain professionals have learned to adapt, persevere, and succeed. What lies within us is the power to succeed.
Our odds for success in any situation increase with education, leadership, and networking. ISM- Western Washington provides opportunities for all three.
Members receive at least eight hours of free training every program year (September through May). Last year we offered 14 hours of free training.
I would like to invite anyone who has thought of taking the first step to advance their career to consider one or more of the following:
- Education - Working towards one or both of the ISM certifications (CPSM® and/or CPSD®)
- Leadership - Volunteering for either a committee or Board position at ISM Western Washington
- Networking - Attend events and connect with other supply chain professionals
Whichever steps you take, ISM- Western Washington will be supporting you.
Virtual education will continue for those who are more comfortable in their own environments and we plan to add several in-person events over the next year, as people feel comfortable and safe with larger gatherings.
Please watch the website and your email for announcements!
Rick McGuire, CPSM
